Lucy Thrower

Go to bed!

Apologies this only applies to Lucy, but she really needs to get some sleep!

Where have all the blog posts gone?

Awful, awful, awful!

That's what I've been with keeping up with this blog. I promised myself I would post something every other day and after no posts for nearly a month I think I can say I've have failed, MISERABLY!

I could blame a million things but the truth is I've been bloody busy and my spare time has been dedicated to trying to keep up with my family and getting more than six hours sleep a night! Things are slowing down for a few weeks, sort of anyway, so hopefully I will get back into the blogging swing of things- again!

The 30 Day Song Challenge - Continued!

Day 3 - A song that makes you happy: Glee Cast, Halo/Walking On Sunshine

Yep, I'm a sucker for glee

Day 4 - A song that makes you sad: Damien Rice, Cold Water

Massive tear jerker!

Day 5 -  A song that reminds you of someone: P!NK, Who Knew

Melanie Lad knows why

Day 6 - A song that reminds you of somewhere: Various Artists

All of these songs in the video make me think of the nightclub featured! Viva Mexico!

Day 7 - A song that reminds you of a certain event:

READING 2009! It's not always about the live music at Reading, it's mostly about the Action Aid tent and Club De Fromage/Hairbrush Heroes.

Had enough song challenging for one day so that will do for now!

When I finally get my local newspaper article sorted, I WILL post a blog about the skydive- honest!

2 sleeps til 10000ft.

What more is there to say?

Except that I'm definitely nervous now and just keeping my fingers crossed that I don't freak out too much. I normally underestimate myself but right now, at the moment in time, I'm terrified!

I'm up a tenner (£737!) but would still like to go H I G H E R.

I've had lots of lovely donations from people I didn't expect to donate, donations from family and friends and I can't say thankyou enough! Honestly, I really can't!

On a not so nice note, I feel quite let down by a few individuals but that's life for you!

I've spent my day baking cupcakes for a friend, cleaning the kitchen and worry worry worrying. Now I'd better pack a bag ready for tomorrow so we can get this show on the road.

Wish me luck!

3 sleeps til 10000ft.

Only 3 sleeps to go now.

Today my thoughts are 'why am I doing this?' and 'what was I thinking!' and 'shit shit shit shit shit'. I know how much can be done with the money we have raised though so I'm hoping that keeping that thought in my mind will help these nerves.

New total = £727

A lovely gesture from my wonderful friend Aliceja (also jumping!) took me up to the magic seven double zero and at the end of my last seminar of the week today I quickly reminded everyone what my weekend plans were and pleaded for just a few odd pounds. My friend Chris really kindly donated £20, a gather of change from various purses and wallets and even £4 from my science lecturer and I arrived at £727! Yay! So...

New target: £800

Making something easy wouldn't be any fun now would it?

30 day song challenge - Day 2

day 02 - your least favorite song
Again, how am I supposed to choose?!

This song does spring to mind though...

30 day song challenge - Day 1

Day 01 - Your Favorite Song

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE?!

I'll get back to you...

4 sleeps til 10000ft.

Volunteering with Action Aid at Reading 2010, which seems like an age ago, a couple of us started talking about the idea of doing a skydive. Action Aid's youth team Bollocks to Poverty quickly put the idea into action and the 'Big Bollocks To Poverty Skydive' was born! With places for 25 people all willing to complete a tandem skydive on the 20th March 2011. After sending off my deposit and getting a place in November last year, 4 sleeps to go seems incredibly close.

My initial target was £500 but a few very kind donations and a cupcake sale around campus later I’d reached my target with several weeks still to go. On a quick trip home for the weekend I set up a donations bucket in my Dads shop which helped to raise almost £150! My next fundraiser was on Pancake Day which also nicely coincided with the 100th International Women’s Day celebrations. Thirty something pancakes later and I’d pulled in a little more money and decided to up my target to £700. I’m now only £8 away from this so determined to go a little further and push for £750.

The most bizarre sponsorship so far? £20 from Boris Johnson!

A strange story, my dad ended up sitting next to him on the Piccadilly line, (who knew the mayor took the tube!?), and thought he may as well ask if he would donate something to his daughters skydive in a few weeks… he pulled out an apple core (I can pretend to be cockney if I really try) and signed it! Now I just need to work out the best way to auction it off.

I’ve been meaning to blog throughout the build up to the skydive but a big workload and a few others excuses means this is the first! Now it’s so close I’m beginning to get a little scared, still excited but definitely scared! I’ll try and keep the last few days blogged and up to date.

Wish me luck!
